Facilitator
Charlie is an actor, spoken word and rap artist. Trained at Drama Studio London, he has since supported the likes of Kate Tempest and Scroobius Pip on the festival circuit, and was a BBC slam finalist in 2014. His solo theatre show, ‘The Stories of Shakey P’ is a compilation of rap retellings of Shakespeare stories. Commissioned in part by the RSC for Michael Boyd’s leaving event, it opened at the Edinburgh Festival in 2012 to immense acclaim before touring to venues such as the Arcola, the Roundhouse and Trafalgar Transformed. The show continues to be performed as part of Shakespeare workshops in schools to give young people an invigorating introduction to the Bard. His next show, ‘Charlie and the Philosorappers’ will give philosophy a similiar treatment, and is premiering at the Edinburgh Festival in 2015.
As a workshop leader Charlie has considerable experience facilitating workshops in drama, poetry, rap and philosophy both on a freelance basis and through companies such as Passion in Practice and more recently, Turn Of Phrase!
He also performs at corporate conferences, offering a bespoke service including a rap roundup of the day’s highlights, and key messages. He has appeared at a range of events including annual conferences for The Marketing Society, Clear Channel and ITV.
