‘NO AGENDA’
TACKLING GENDER NORMS IN COMMUNICATION
Whether you are a woman or a man, we consciously and subconsciously play to gender norms throughout our lives and especially in the workplace. This unique course aims to explore how it affects you at an individual and team level. Through exercises that draw on theatre practice, psychotherapy, forum discussion and debate, this one-day workshop will open up new ways for you to communicate. It will also offer you an opportunity to discuss some of the issues faced by both genders, including maternity, paternity care, career aspirations, personal habits and assumptions. It will give you the confidence to build a learning community at work that aims to tackle gender inequality for both men and women. This course is aimed at mixed gender groups of between 4-10 people. It has been designed in consultation with academics and specialists in gender study and will be delivered by trained actors who have experience as teachers and leaders.

LEADERS WITH EQUALITY IN MIND
This course aims to help women and men at all levels of business but particularly those who are focused on developing leadership roles in the city workplace and finding ways to influence the culture and challenge exclusive ‘masculine’ environments. The course has two key elements. The first is that we aim to help you as an individual succeed. We develop your skills and confidence to perform whether it’s delivering a keynote speech, presenting to the boardroom or in meetings with your colleagues and employees. We use exercises developed from our actor training and theatre practice alongside transactional analysis and vocal work to help women and men find their authentic voice, develop strategies for dealing with gender stereotyping, difficult work spaces/situations and help generate new ways to communicate.

The best communicators are often the best listeners. This course is designed for both the natural introvert and extrovert who want to improve their communication through developing and using listening skills. This course offers an insight into anxiety and fear in public speaking and in team settings and how it relates to the ego. Natural introverts tend to be better listeners but are not always able to translate that useful skill into effective communication. The natural extrovert often has the confidence to speak but perhaps misses opportunities to address the need of their audience by not listening effectively. This course offers a meeting point. We explore how to listen effectively through your voice and body; how and when to speak in different settings, as well as encouraging and enabling a group listening dynamic. Exercises explore who speaks when and how we play status roles and what we can do to shift our status. We also introduce participants how to combat fear and respond instinctively and spontaneously through exercises based on actor training.
