EDUCATION

Our work with young people also reflects our mission to empower people to communicate effectively and authentically. We run a selection of workshops in interview skills, public speaking, preparing for presentations and audition technique. This helps to equip students for higher education and the demands of the workplace – allowing them to find their voice and giving them the tools to communicate with excellence.

Take a look at our ‘Career Skills’ page for more information.

Also, as with our adult work, we have a workshop that focuses on the issues of gender equality as we believe this can be a key issue in communication breakdown and something that needs to be explored across age range and throughout society. We work with people who are educating our next generation of leaders to integrate concepts of gender and create a safe and supportive environment in which to explore them, both in their own lives and in the wider world.

Please see our ‘Personal and Social Workshops’ page for this and more PHSE workshop ideas for your school.

As professionally trained actors, we also offer a variety of theatre workshops which you will find on the ‘Theatre Workshops’ page. These range from a two hour workshop to a full week of rehearsal and exploration culminating in a full scale production. We have expert facilitators in text, movement, historical works, mask, improvisation and devising to name but a few! We can tailor the sessions to your individual needs so don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Turn of Phrase are an extraordinarily professional, friendly and talented company to work with. They have a keen understanding of the challenges faced when trying to engage Year 9 pupils with Shakespeare, and ultimately to help them perform it with confidence and creativity. This is the second year that we have invited them to work with our students, and both times they have created an entirely bespoke week of workshops to suit our needs. We recommend them unreservedly to all, and look forward to working with them again.

Turn of Phrase visited my school to deliver a gender equality workshop. The students were able to explore issues of gender, sexuality and identity in a safe space using both drama and forum discussion. I was amazed at the maturity of the conversations and the way in which Turn of Phrase managed the room. Nothing short of brilliance.
